KL Monorail

KL Monorail Systems Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary KL Infrastructure Group Bhd. The KL Monorail vehicles are manufactured locally in Malaysia by Transportation System.

KL Monorail started its commercial operation on 1 October 2003. With a total of 11 fully elevated stations each of the KL Monorail is currently capable of handling up to a maximum 5,000 passengers.

The KL Monorail operation is semi- automatic with full fail- safe, train protection. Their vehicles were designed to be highly resistant to fire, toxic fumes and gases. The KL Monorail system utilizes a 2- car train during its initial operations.

The monorail system is friendlier than other railway. Straddle type monorail systems are inherently quiet therefore it is noise free. Provisions will be made for the incorporation of facilities for the disabled, such as elevator shaft provision for the wheel bound and Braille- tiles for the blind.
