Malaysian people love excitement in their lives; they also love sharing their cultures with others. In fact, Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures and events reflect the cultures. There are many interesting things going on in Malaysia the whole year through, from sporting activities to food fiestas.

Merdeka is a pre event celebration to the National Day. On the 30th of August every year, Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur have a gala time celebrating the eve of the country's independence day. One gets to enjoy a colorful fireworks display, dance and cultural performances and concerts by local artistes.

At the stroke of midnight, the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysia's flag) will be hosted, as patriotic Malaysians and tourists cheer and shout 'Merdeka!' National Day celebrations continue the next day all over the country.

This is a month long festival celebrating Malaysia's independence. This is an annual event to honour the historical countdown of the nation's independence day which is celebrated by everyone from all walks of life in the country.

Hours: between 10 am to midnight.
